now's a good time to be in middle school and going to soc hops. cat power's quietly released vinyl-only EP (from recordings sessions during 'jukebox' production) provides the perfect soundtrack for arms-extended dancing. makes sense for her to cover the muscle shoals/james carr soul song, but chan marshall also trys out pogues and soul classics otis and aretha. im not sure if shes leaving indie or she just never was, but this is where she shines. hands on hips of the girl who's taller than you, in the cafetorium.
